Yes. HECS field technicians hold current RESNET HERS Rater credentials (valid through 2026) and submit ratings through the accredited provider's registry. HERS Index, ENERGY STAR v3.1, and code-required blower door tests all carry the same credential.
A blower door test measures total building envelope air leakage (ACH50 / CFM50). A duct leakage test measures leakage of the HVAC duct system only (CFM25 / CFM50 to outside). ENERGY STAR Multifamily, code-official review, and 45L credit all require separate envelope and duct tests.
HECS verifies the service against the applicable Illinois state energy code, ASHRAE standards, and any program-specific certification path your project requires. We follow ASTM E779 for the test procedure and report in the format your code official or program reviewer requires.
HECS documents specific leak locations where visible (using a combination of smoke pencil and visual inspection). The certification report identifies the test result vs. the target, with recommendations for sealing. Re-test after sealing is quoted separately.
